Over 50 Years of Passion & Heritage
Our story began in 1968, when John Hale started selling Rupp Mini Bikes out of his garage. Just a few years later, in 1971, we built our current location and expanded our lineup to include Yamaha Motor USA and Penton Motorcycles. Then, in 1981, John Hale made the bold move to partner with Harley-Davidson, setting the foundation for what Hale’s has become today.
The business has remained in the family ever since. The second generation, Lee & Eric Hale, took the reins in 1983 and helped grow Hale’s into the dealership our customers know and love. Today, Lee Hale remains actively involved, while the third generation, John & Brittany Hale, are part of daily operations, ensuring that our legacy continues for years to come.

Hale’s Harley-Davidson has a truly one-of-a-kind location. Just one mile from the historic Ohio State Reformatory (OSR), our dealership is surrounded by history—and a few unexpected neighbors.
The Ohio State Reformatory, built in the late 1800s, remained in operation until 1990. Since its closure, OSR has become a cultural landmark, serving as the backdrop for movies, TV shows, and music videos, including: The Shawshank Redemption, Scariest Places on Earth, Eric Church's "Some of It" music video
After OSR shut down, the Mansfield Correctional Institution was built adjacent to Hale’s Harley-Davidson®, providing inmates with the ultimate "Room With A View"—overlooking our dealership.
